The Trip
Nate and I left london on the 10th of August and flew to Athens to catch a plane to Santorini. From there it was on to a ferry to Ios Island where we stayed for about six days. Another ferry then took us to Mykonos island for the next three days. We then returned to Athens and took a self-guided tour around the Akropolis before flying back to London. Ios island
We arrived pretty exhausted at about mid-day and took a walk over the top of the island to the "party side". We walked into the first place that looked marginally descent, which happened to be called the Purple Pig campsite. The receptionist was an Australian girl called Emma who obviously liked the look of us and stuck us in the same room they were staying in. She was very helpful and we got discount drinks among other things for the rest of the holiday!!!

Time basically went by with us spending days on the beach and nights in the town above clubbing. The atmosphere was great and the people very friendly, just a pity that there were so many Italians there. There was way too much testosterone in the air for my liking. Info & pics of the Purple Pig Mykonos island Mykonos island was a bigger island which was a little more upper-class. The people there were not so much backpackers as tourists, so there was more facility for classy restaurants and the like. The clubs were bigger and had more money thrown at them, so if you are looking for good clubbing, this is the place to be!! We couldn't find any accommodation on the party-side of the island, so we just slept on the floor in the campsite. The wind blew like hell on the first night and we didn't get much sleep...really uncomfortable too! The party life here was something else. There were three bars on the beach, all playing dance music at the max. Girls dancing on the bars and plenty of drinking. The music started at about 3 o'clock and would go through until about 8 the next morning. The women here were amazing too. Some of the most fantastic bodies I have seen in a long time.

This is the "money" side of the Mykonos island. It has some amazing restaurants. |
We had dinner here (above) one of the nights before hitting the town. Octopus is one of the specialities and is well worth trying if you can handle the tentacles. If you are on romantic, this is the place to be. The sunset was exquisite, the boats were majestic and the scenery surreal. Man, didn't I just sell this place!!! Athens (The Akropolis) We took a fast-ferry from Mykonos to Athens and what a pleasure that was. Twice the price, twice the speed and airconditioned. Managed to get some sleep during the three hour journey. My whole reason for going to Athens was to see the Akropolis. The city itself isn't that much to see and is as hot as hell!! It also happened to be a Sunday when we arrived, so the city itself was dead. We decided to spend a bit of cash and rent a descent hotel considering we had spent very little on accomodation and were going back to work in a few days, so once that was organised and the bags offloaded, we headed off to the Akropolis.

This is the Acropolis. |
The picture above is the Akropolis. A lot of old stones piled on a hill!! We were so knackered from the clubbing that after hiking to the top in the blistering heat, I hardly had it in me to take in much of the historical aspect. The Akropolis was basically a fitting home for the virgin warrior goddess, Athena. Most of the temples built on the Akropolis were shrines to her.
That's all for Greece!!!
