Seattle was the next stop after Hawaii. We left the sun, sand and blue sea for the snow and miserable weather...which surprisingly turned out better than I expected.

We were picked up from the airport by Nate's folks and then driven across town to their house situated right on Lake Washington . I got a pretty good look at the whole American experience here as it wasn't a tourist destination.

Americans are funny people sometimes. I have never heard such chaos over everyday things before. It is quite funny if you take a step back and listen to it all. One person will suggest something and then everyone will start shouting at once as to their suggestions, or criticism. It becomes quite interesting when everyone is giving their opinion at once and nobody is listening to anybody else. Most often it turns out that nothing gets decided, or solved. They are, however innately good people and always out to help. They are always kind and try to be helpful. One should not be put off by the most common comments on Americans being loud and rude. I would say more likely very opinionated and larger than life.

We managed to fit in a day of skiing up at Crystal mountain just prior to Christmas. We had to get up at "sparrow fart" and pile into the car for a three hour journey. The skiing was a lot of fun with good snow and routes. We had a lot of wind up at the top of the mountain which cut your face, but if one tucked and got through it, the rest of the mountain was great.

I managed to get lost somewhere along the line and spent about 1 hr looking for Nate and his old man, but eventually found them...no harm done!

This is a pic of Mt Rainier in Washington. It is a currently dormant volcano, with the potential to become active again. It is quite a sight and almost every house in Seattle will have some picture or reference to it. We passed the mountain on the way to go skiing.
