For two weeks from the 27th of September until the 14th of October, I decided to go home to visit old friends and see family. It was all in all quite a rushed holiday with so much to do in so little time, but what follows is the just...
I arrived at about 1pm in the afternoon and was told that I was invited to a wedding that night, so "mighty" were the preparations and we managed to kit myself out with a suit fit for a wedding. The wedding was being held at the Durban Country Club in one of the upstairs dining rooms and was the marriage of the eldest son of the Charter family and his fiancée Tammy.

All in all, it was a wonderful wedding with some excellent speeches and plenty of drink. We managed to get back home at about 12:30 or so and make sure that we had prepared as well as possible for leaving the following morning for a week in the Transkei.

All went remarkably smoothly the next morning and we were soon in the rolling hills and seaside serenity of Msikaba. The rest of the week comprised mainly of fishing when the weather permitted and relaxing in the sun or on the beach. The evenings were taken up with much talking and sitting around the braai (barbecue) as television, radio or mobile phones don't work there. Genuinely the best way to escape the stresses of modern life!

Once regretfully returning home, I was off to Cape Town for three days to visit the varsity mates that I had left behind. It was mostly dinners and nights out with everyone to catch up on old times, but great to be back in the sunny Cape once again.

My final event before leaving to come back home was a rugby match at good old Kings Park/Absa stadium. The Sharks won that match quite easily and then it was a night out locally which turned into quite a big one...say no more!
